Dengue patients increasing in Ctg, 197 affected in July

The number of dengue patients is increasing in Chittagong. A total of 197 patients have been detected in July.  According to Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH), eight  dengue patients were identified at CMC from July 18-19. Since then the number has been increasing on a regular basis.

However, on Thursday, 18 new patients were admitted at the hospital. Besides, 10 people have been released. As a result, 64 beds (dengue zones) and a total of 73 patients are currently under treatment in ward 9, 13, 14, 16, including children.

CMC Deputy Director, Dr Akhtarul Islam said every day new dengue patients are being admitted. 90% of them are suffering from outside.

He said patients were discharged with treatment within ten days. In addition, if anyone is clinically tested, we are monitoring them at bed rest.

On the other hand, Civil Surgeon DR. Azizur Rahman said 14 new dengue patients have been identified at various private hospitals in Chittagong on Friday. 

Of them, One in USTC, Two in Agrabad Mother and Children Hospital, five in Medical Center, One in National Hospital, One in Max Hospital, two in Islami Bank Hospital and two in Patiya Upazila Health Complex.

Meanwhile, there is an allegation that various private hospitals in Chittagong have been collecting additional fees defying  government-bound fixed fees. 

Consumer Rights Protection sources said they were fined Tk40, 000 to City CSCR Diagnostic Center for collecting additional fees.

 Assistant Director of Consumer Protection Department Chittagong District Muhammad Hasanuzzaman said, "From July 30 to  till now, we have received six complaints. Evidences against four were found. The remaining two, for having no evidence, were released.
