Dengue cases are increasing in Chattogram

The dengue outbreak in Chattogram seems to be increasing as the days go by.  Chattogram residents are facing this outbreak of dengue as winter approaches.  86 new cases of dengue have been reported in the last 24 hours.  However, no death occurred on this day.

 This information was informed in the report published by Chattogram Civil Surgeon office on Wednesday afternoon.

 According to the report released by the Civil Surgeon's office, 86 people have been infected with dengue in the last 24 hours.  However, no death occurred during this time.  Among them, 40 patients have been identified in government hospitals and 46 patients are receiving treatment in private hospitals.  At present the number of patients admitted to the hospital is 86.

 It is known that the number of dengue patients started increasing in Chattogram from July this year.  After August-September, the number of dengue patients and deaths increased dramatically in October.  1 thousand 861 people were infected with dengue in the month of October.  Among them 1 thousand 356 people are residents of Chattogram city area.  Which is 72.86 percent of the total infections of the current month.  Apart from this, 505 people have been infected with dengue in different upazilas.  Which is 27.13 percent of the current month's total cases.

 In addition, only 9 people were infected with dengue in January this year.  In February, the number of infected people further decreased to 4.  While 1 person was infected with dengue in April, no cases were found in May.  However, the number of infected people started increasing again from June.  19 people were infected this month.  Dengue cases increased to 65 in July, 114 in August and 601 in September.  A total of 2 thousand 826 people have been affected by dengue this year.  So far 15 people have died due to dengue.

 Regarding the dengue situation in Chattogram District Civil Surgeon Dr. Elias Chowdhury said that dengue is increasing.  We need awareness to prevent this.  Be especially careful with children.  Whenever you go to sleep, you must sleep with a mosquito net.  If any other symptoms appear, a doctor should be consulted.

 He said, we have preparations to deal with dengue.  Separate treatment arrangements have been kept for dengue patients in various upazila health complexes.  Besides, there are adequate facilities in the hospitals of the city.
