After the Eid holidays, government employees from various ministries and departments have announced a mass rally at the Secretariat on Monday to demand the repeal of the Government Service (Amendment) Ordinance, 2025.
Md. Nazrul Islam, co-secretary general of the Secretariat Officers and Employees Unity Forum in Bangladesh, said that employees will gather at Badamtala on Monday at 10:30 am to voice their demands.
Following the rally, a memorandum will be submitted to the advisers of the Home Affairs, Social Welfare, and Housing and Public Works ministries, he added.
Besides, the leaders of the forum will announce a new programme of action.
He also said that a message has been circulated to officials and employees urging participation in the mass rally.
Leaders of the forum mentioned that although a committee was formed under the leadership of the Law Adviser to review the Government Services Ordinance, the committee has not contacted them. Therefore, they have decided to initiate a movement starting Monday.
