About 11 km area on the Sujanagar-Chinakhara paved road is currently in a severely dilapidated condition. This important road has become unusable due to the accumulation of large potholes and ditches in different parts.
The reasen behind the devested condition of this regional highway under the Roads and Highways Department of Pabna district as it has not been renovated for a long time.
The only way to reach the capital Dhaka from Sujanagar via Chinakhara is thuis road full of potholes and ditches. Because of the potholes no vehicles wants to ply on this road. Moreover, when it rains, this road turns into a water body.
Due to the accumulation of water in those holes in the last few days, vehicles and common people plying on the road on a regular basis are suffering. Drivers do not understand the depth of the holes due to stagnant water. As a result, besides accidents, there is indescribable misery for the movement of people and vehicles.
On Tuesday morning visiting on spot, it was seen that large potholes have been created along with ditches in most parts of the 11 km road from Professorpara in Sujanagar Municipality to Chinakhara via Poradanga.
Abdul Hai, the CNG driver of the road, reacted angrily, saying it was a road. No one sees human misery. Accidents are often happening on this road. He demanded immediate repair of the road. Asked about the dilapidated condition of the road, pedestrian Shahjahan Ali said, “We are in big trouble for the condition of this road. Development is going on all over the country but no one is looking at the condition of this road”.
Abdus Shukur, the founding president of Sujanagar Press Club, said that there is no way to take a person to the hospital even if he is sick due to the dilapidated condition of this important road. In this regard, AKM Shamsuzzoha, Executive Engineer, Roads and Highways Department, Pabna, said that the repair work of this important road will be started soon.
