State Minister for the Ministry of Cultural Affairs KM Khalid MP said, "Today's children are the architects of future." The state is looking at the new generation so that they can become worthy and good citizens of the future and devote themselves to building the country. They have to come forward with the attitude of serving the nation through Bangabandhu’s ideology and spirit.”
The state minister was speaking as the chief guest at a quiz competition and prize distribution function organized by Barisal district administration on the occasion of ‘Historic 7th March-2022’ National Day celebrations at Barisal District Shilpakala Academy auditorium on Friday.
Acting Deputy Commissioner of Barisal Md. Shahidul Islam presided over the function and freedom fighter Md Hamid, Deputy Commissioner of Barisal Metropolitan Police (BMP) South Md Ali Ashraf Bhuiyan, Barisal District Awami League General Secretary Talukder Md Yunus, Deputy Director of Secondary and Higher Education Department Barisal Region Md Anwar Hossain and freedom fighter KSA Mohiuddin Manik spokes as special guests on the function.
Describing his experience of brutal torture at the hands of Razakars and Al-Badrs, accomplices of the Pakistani aggressors in the Great War of Liberation, Chief Guest KM Khalid said, “I was a victim of Pakistani aggressor while I was a resident of room no 210 at Fazlul Hud hall of Bangladesh agricultural University. Because of my patriotism and courage, I did not panic that day.
A large section of the heroic freedom fighters were teenagers and young generation. But even at such a young age, they did not back down that day. They had jumped into the liberation war on that day with courage in the heart.”
He called upon the new generation to take the country forward by working with courage and patriotism.
Cultural personality M Hamid said, “Bangladesh was the only country which had to gain independence by fighting for independence from the British colonies. He said that different countries of the world have Independence Day. Only we have both Independence Day and Victory Day. Because, we have liberated the country by fighting, we have snatched victory.”
Later, the state minister distributed prizes among the winners of the quiz competition and visited the traditional Barisal Public Library. The state minister inaugurated the Barisal Divisional Pitha Festival-2022 held at the premises of Barisal District Shilpakala Academy in the afternoon.
