The Impulse Hospital in the capital has been made dedicated for treating COVID-19 infected police personnel as the infection is alarmingly spiking among the community in Bangladesh.
“The hospital with 450 beds will soon start treating the novel coronavirus infected patients,” said a press release from police headquarters on Friday.
So far, six police members died during the COVID-19 pandemic. A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Central Police Hospital and Impulse Hospital on May 5. Impulse Hospital would soon begin treating COVID-19 infected policemen, the release said.
The police headquarters sources said that 1,429 policemen had been infected with the novel coronavirus so far. Among them, 708 were of Dhaka Metropolitan Police.
There are 2814 police personnel in home and institutional quarantine, 472 were in isolation. So far, 96 police personnel got recovered and six died of COVID-19.
