A tragic accident occurred in Faridpur on Friday afternoon, where a 30-year-old decorator worker, Saiful Islam, was electrocuted while working on a stage construction for a public event.
The incident took place around 3 p.m. in the Shonpacha area of Kanai Pur Union, near Hakkani Road, in the district town.
Saiful Islam, the deceased, was the son of Khalek Mollah from the Mritki area of Faridpur Sadar.
According to eyewitnesses, Saiful Islam was working to arrange tin sheets on top of the stage when the metal sheets came into contact with a high-voltage power line overhead. The shock caused him to fall from the stage. Locals rushed to his aid and transported him to Faridpur Medical College Hospital, where the on-duty doctors declared him dead upon arrival.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of the Faridpur Kotwali Police Station, Mohammad Asaduzzaman, confirmed that police had been dispatched to the scene, and legal actions will be taken following the incident.
