Newly elected president of the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) Tabith Awal made his first visit to BFF on Tuesday.
Tabith after being elected the president of the BFF joined in the AFC Congress and AFC Award Night and returned home on Tuesday.
Tabith Awal had a meeting with the Bangladesh Women’s National team’s coach Peter Butler, who guided the team to win the SAFF Championship.
Butler right after the day of the final of SAFF Championship 2024 in Kathmandu, Nepal, announced that he will not anymore with the Women’s team.
But the chairman of the women’s wing of the BFF earlier desired that she wanted Butler to continue as women’s team head coach.
Mahfuza Akhter Kiran said on last Sunday that federation wants to keep Butler in charge of women’s coach and they would try to convince him.
This British coach, who was steadfast in his decision, said that he would discuss with the new president Tabith Awal and then make a new decision.
Butler had a discussion meeting with Tabith on Tuesday. Though any decision yet to be finalized, but butler said that their discussion was positive.
“It was nice to meet the president. No decision has been finalized between us, greetings have been exchanged.”
“But I talked about several issues. We had a positive conversation. I told him what I had to say. President said that he would talk about it later on,” said Butler. Meanwhile, Butler, who was appointed as the coach of BFF Elite Academy and was given the charge of the Women Team ahead of the SAFF Championship, his contract with the BFF will be ended on December 31.
Apart from extending the contract period, what will be Butler's work area for the remaining days may also be finalized at the next meeting.
“As we have a contract, I have to complete the term. It is my responsibility. The new president also said that he will discuss the matter and will let me know,” Butler said.
