The Ministry of Education has directed the Deputy Commissioners (DCs) to maintain the overall fair environment of the educational institutions in the existing situation after the fall of Sheikh Hasina's government centered on the quota reform movement.
The direction was sent to the DCs of secondary and higher education division of the Ministry of Education on Tuesday.
It stated that an unpleasant situation has arisen in view of various complaints against some university, college and school principals or other officials in different parts of the country demanding their resignation or removal. In some places, teachers have been personally harassed and the local law and order situation has deteriorated. Such a situation is not desirable at all.
It further said that the VC, Pro-VC or other officials at the university level may voluntarily resign and may be removed by the Chancellor in accordance with law if necessary. This Department of Secondary and Higher Education may take other measures applicable to government employees by investigation including transfer if necessary by the head of institutions like government schools-colleges or others.
Similarly, in the case of private educational institutions, there is an opportunity to take measures according to the rules by the school managing committee or governing body or MAUSHI. In this case, if a specific complaint is sent about the said teacher-officer, the concerned department will take appropriate measures subject to investigation or inquiry.
The public administration of Bangladesh has always played an important role in the provision of educational management and improvement of the educational environment. In the existing situation, the Deputy Commissioners have been instructed to keep in touch with the teachers, students, parents and representatives of the concerned parties of the educational institutions to supervise the maintenance of the overall fair environment and inform the secondary and higher education department if necessary.
