DCCI mourns death of ex-Vice President of FBCCI Abu Alam Chowdhury

Eminent businessman and former Vice President of FBCCI Abu Alam Chowdhury has passed away yesterday on 27th February 2023 at 11 p.m. at the age of 75 at capital’s United Hospital under treatment. (Inna Lillahe Wa Inna Ilaihe Rajiun). 

President of Dhaka Chamber of Commerce & Industry (DCCI) Barrister Md. Sameer Sattar and members of the Board expressed their deep condolences at his sad demise. He was also a member of DCCI.  

He was born in 30th September, 1948 in a respected Muslim family at Chattogram. During his studentship, he played a commendable role in the great mass-movement of 1969 against the then Pakistani ruler. Later, he initiated business career in media sector.

 Gradually he expanded his businesses in sea food processing, home textile and handicrafts sub-sector. He was awarded National ‘Export Gold Trophy’ for record eleven times for the diversification of export item and for highest volume of export. 

He served as the Vice-President of FBCCI and Director for 6 terms covering 12 years in this apex trade body. He was the President of Bangla Craft and founder President of Bangladesh Craft & Giftware Association.  His Namaj-e-Janajah will be held on Wednesday, 1st March 2023 at Nikunja-1 Jame Mosque after Johr prayer.
