Tapon Kumar Das works as a shoe-repairer (cobbler). Having no house of his own, he used to live in a rented house with his wife Tulu Rani.

However, two-years ago, Tapon became ill and failed to attend his regular work. With no regular income, it was not possible for him to pay the house rent.

Moreover, the Corona pandemic further decreased his income. As a result, he left the rented house and started to live with his wife on the Varandah of a market under Naohata municipality of Paba upazila of Rajshahi.

Though Tapon has been recovered after treatment, he is now shortsighted and short in hearing. His wife Tulu Rani is also ill and uses a stretcher to walk after she fell on the road recently. The couple at their late fifty has no issue.

Local journalist Jahid Hossain Palash watched the wretched condition of Tapon-Tulu Rani couple and informed of their plight to the Deputy Commissioner of Rajshahi. Deputy Commissioner of Rajshahi Abdul Jalil directed the UNO of Paba to take step to build a house of the Tapon-Tulu Rani couple. Afterwards, UNO of Paba upazila sanctioned two bundles of corrugated tin-sheets for making a house for the couple.

Hafiaur Rahman, Mayor of Naohata Municipality has handed over the key of the newly built house to Tapon-Tulu Rani couple on Tuesday morning. Moreover, Deputy Commissioner Abdul Jalil called Tapon-Tulu couple at his office and assured them to provide with the home being built for the distressed, landless people during third phase of the observance of the Mujib Borsho.
