The DC Gold Cup Football Tournament 2025 officially kicked off on Friday afternoon at the Mymensingh District Stadium, organised by the Mymensingh District Administration in collaboration with the District Sports Association. The event is part of the Youth Festival 2025, held under the inspiring slogan “Let’s Change the Country, Let’s Change the World.”

Deputy Commissioner Mofidul Alam presided over the opening ceremony, with Local Government Secretary Md Rezaul Maksud Jahedi attending as chief guest. Mymensingh Divisional Commissioner Md Mokhter Ahmed and DIG of Mymensingh Range, Mohammad Ataul Kibria, were present as special guests.

The chief guest highlighted Mymensingh’s rich cultural, educational, and sporting legacy, noting that eight players from the national women’s football team hail from the district, along with several members of the national cricket team. He praised the DC Gold Cup as a vital platform for youth to nurture their sporting talents, expressing hope that many future national players will emerge from Mymensingh.

In the tournament’s opening match, Muktagacha Upazila defeated Mymensingh Sadar 2-1 in a thrilling game.

Divisional Commissioner Mokhter Ahmed noted that while winning or losing is part of the game, the intensity of competition makes it enjoyable. He added that such tournaments not only produce athletes but also foster harmony and unity within society, calling for regular sporting events to support youth development.

The stadium buzzed with energy as spectators, including local representatives, athletes, teachers, journalists, and sports enthusiasts, enjoyed the players’ outstanding performances in a festive atmosphere.
