DB police raids unlicensed polythene factory in Ishwardi

Detective Branch (DB) of Pabna Police has seized illegal polythene, raw materials and equipment worth crores of taka from an illegal polythene factory at Ishwardi in Pabna. The owner of the factory has been detained.

Last Sunday (April 17) afternoon, Pabna DB police conducted a raid on an unlicensed illegal polythene factory in Shailpara area of Ishwardi Municipality on the basis of secret information.During the operation, a large quantity of polythene bags, polythene making equipment including foreign raw materials and the owner of the factory were arrested. The owner of the arrested illegal polythene factory is Shipon Ali Malitha. He is the son of late Nawfel Malitha of Shailpara area.

The seized goods include 150 sacks of raw material for making polythene, 35 sacks of raw material for making small polybags weighing 35 kg and 4 sacks of small polybags weighing 15 kg. According to the DB police, the value of the seized goods is several crores of rupees.

Ataur Rahman Khandaker said Shipon Malitha had been making illegal polythene by setting up an unauthorized factory in Shelpara area of Ishwardi for a long time. On the basis of secret information, a huge amount of polythene bags, raw materials and equipment for making polythene worth crores of rupees were recovered from the factory on Sunday afternoon. Shipon Malitha, the owner of the factory, was arrested at the time. The factory was sealed off at the end of the operation. He said a case would be filed against Shipon Malitha, who was arrested for setting up an unauthorized factory and making illegal polythene.
