Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested 57 people in connection with illegally selling narcotics and taking drugs from different parts of the capital city Dhaka.
DMP police arrested drug peddlers, abusers and seized banned and illegal drugs from the city's various areas, said a DMP press release on Wednesday. As part of the anti-drug drives, DB personnel raided different areas under various police stations and detained 57 drug abusers and recovered drugs from their possession from 6 am on September 28, 2021 to 6 am Wednesday. Police seized 170 grams of heroin, 17.946kg of cannabis (ganja), 76 bottle of phensidyle and 8,639 pieces of yaba from them.
Police lodged 44 cases against the arrestees in this connection with respective police stations under the Narcotics Control Act.
