As the members of the dope party have become desperate ahead of Eid ul Adha, law enforcers also intensified their ongoing drives across the city.
As part of the ongoing crackdown against dope party gangs, Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested eight members of a doping gang from the city’s Lalbagh area.
Getting secret information, a team of DB police arrested the dope party gang members at a cattle market in the Dholaikhal area of the capital on Monday night. DB officials claimed that the dope gang members were trying to carry out a robbery.
According to Razib Al Masud, deputy commissioner of DB' Lalbagh division,the arrested were primary identified as Rana Sikdar, Jummat, Sohel Rana, Billal, Ali Hossain, Sohel, Zahurul Islam and Helal Uddin. Rana Sikdar is the leader of the gang.
During their primary interrogations,they admitted that they gathered at the cattle market in bid to loot money and valuables from traders and buyers by using sedatives on them.
We also seized 100 sedative pills, four bottles of sedative spray, and mixed food items from their possession, he added.
A case was filed against them and they were handed over to the local police.
