A daylong competition of Hason Raja’s song, dance and painting was held in Sunamganj on Thursday marking the 165th birth anniversary of mystic poet Hason Raja. Acting Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Sunamganj Mohammad Shariful Islam inaugurated the competition at the Hason Raja Auditorium of Shilpakala Academy in the city.
One hundred and fifty participants of different educational institute and cultural organisation took part in this competition organised by Hason Raja Trust.
President of Hason Raja Trust Dewan Imadad Reza Chowdhury chaired the event while Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Yasmin Nahar, Principal of Sunamganj Municipal College. Md. Shergul Ahmed, President of Sunamganj Press Club Pankaj Kanti Dey spoke among others. Dewan Gias Chowdhury coordinator of the event hosted the inaugural ceremony. Speakers at the event said Hason Raja's songs has spirituality as well as love of humanity in them. It is learned from Hason Raja’s life that luxury is not everything in life.
Hason Raja, the zamindar of a time, left everything and surrendered himself to the Creator, to the people. Humanity became the main pursuit of his creations. Hason Raja's philosophy should be presented to the new generation. Necessary steps should be taken to preserve his creation, they added.
