Darshana Sugar Mills made a profit by generating huge revenue to the government. Despite depositing Tk 79 crore in the government's revenue account, the main profit of Tk 50 and a half crore has been made by covering the losses of Tk 64 crore in the two divisions of the mill.
Various steps have been taken to make Carew Company more profitable. However, due to the cultivation of sugarcane with modern
technology, the burden of losses in the sugar factory can be reduced to a large extent in the next threshing season.
Carew company has already passed 84 years. The activities of the sugarcane threshing season are repeatedly started with clapping. Somehow the sugarcane threshing operations were ended with success despite having many obstacles. Officials and employees have to suffer due to constant mechanical errors. Meanwhile, the modernization work started several years ago. However, no one can give an accurate estimate of when this work will be completed.
The 2021-22 sugarcane crushing season at Darshana Sugar Mill was officially launched on December 24, 2021. 50 threshing days ended on February 12.
A total of 4,627 acres of sugarcane is threshed. Out of which, Carew sugar mill own land was 989 acres and sugarcane was 3 thousand 638 acres in farmer's land. According to the target, the production of sugar by crushing 50 thousand metric tons of sugarcane in just 44 days was determined to be 3 and a half thousand metric tons. The average rate of sugar extraction was determined to be 7.0. At last 54 thousand metric tons of sugarcane was threshed in 50 days. Average threshing was 1 thousand 64 metric tons per day. Sugar production is 3 thousand metric tons. The average rate of sugar extraction was 5.60 percent.
According to the information of the board meeting of the Sugar and Food Industry Corporation, in the financial year 2021-22, Carew sugar factory has incurred a loss of Tk 60 crore 44 lakh. 3 crore 26 lakh taka has been counted as loss in 9 farms of sugar mill.
This time profit of 18 lakh taka has been earned from Akundabaria organic fertilizer factory. In total, in the financial year 2021-22, among the 4 divisions of the Carew company, the sugar factory and 9 farms have incurred losses of Tk 63 crore 70 lakh. In this direction, profit has been achieved from the distillery, hand sanitizer and biofertilizer divisions. 5.5 million liters of domestic and foreign liquors have been produced and marketed.
Keruge Distillery Division broke the all-time record by selling 1 lakh 162 thousand cases of foreign liquor this time. From the distillery department, the government has earned a profit of Tk 113 crore 97 lakh despite paying Tk 78 crore 91 lakh revenue and income tax of Tk 1 crore.
A profit of 18 lakh taka has been earned in the production of vinegar in biofertilizer. 78 crore 91 lakh rupees have to be deposited in the revenue account of the government in the VAT and customs sector in this financial year from the total profit.
Out of 101.13 crore 97 lakh taka, 60 crore 44 lakh taka sugar factory and 9 farms have seen a profit of 50 crore 27 lakh taka after covering the loss of 3 crore 26 lakh taka.
