Former ‘Daredevil’ showrunner Steven DeKnight has a hilarious follow-up to his expressed desire to make a ‘Superman’ movie. The longtime TV writer-director had a stint writing on The CW's Smallville series, which explored the life of a younger Clark Kent as he developed into the superhero he would eventually become, before helming the acclaimed Daredevil season 1 for Netflix. He also made his feature-film directorial debut in 2018 with Pacific Rim: Uprising, the sequel to the popular Guillermo del Toro Kaiju movie.

In a recent discussion on Twitter, DeKnight admitted to wanting to make a movie featuring the Man of Steel, clarifying that he would want Henry Cavill to continue on in the role. The suggestion sparked some discussion online, as the actor's future in the DCEU is currently the matter of intense speculation, with no indication that Warner Bros. has any plans to bring him back following his work on reshoots for Zack Snyder's Justice League. Though he himself is certainly busy, starring in Netflix's The Witcher series along with roles in Enola Holmes 2 and the spy thriller Argylle, Cavill has said he would be interested in continuing his run as Superman if asked.

While DeKnight has no update to share on whether this dream project could come to fruition, he has taken note of the response his admission got from fans and press, and decides to post a winking follow-up. Possibly realizing that he's dreamed a bit too small, the creator mentions for any studio executives listening that he's also interested in helming a big-budget blockbuster with complete creative freedom, in case someone has one of those lying around. Hopefully, he says, that will generate a similar amount of buzz as his last Twitter spitball.
