Daily Covid infection rate drops to 3.22pc

Bangladesh registered eight more deaths in 24 hours from Covid-19 till 8am Wednesday. The total number of deaths has reached to 29,053 with the latest figure.

A total of 732 people were newly infected during the time and the total number of people infected rose to 1,945,108, according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Wednesday.

The current positivity rate has dropped to 3.22 percent and the overall positivity rate stands at 14.46 percent.

Earlier on Tuesday, eight people died due to the virus and 799 people contracted the virus. 

In addition, the death rate now stands at 1.49 percent in the country, added the release.

Of the deaths, three were from Dhaka, one from Rajshahi and two each from Barishal and Rangpur divisions.

A total of 22,716 samples were tested across the country till 8am Wednesday. 

Some 4,824 Covid-19 patients have recovered during this period. A total of 1,826,949 people have recovered from the virus so far and the recovery rate stands at 93.93 percent.

As of Wednesday, 5,986,770 people died of Covid-19 across the world and 439,289,221 have been infected so far, according to Worldometer.
