Bangladesh registered 43 more deaths in 24 hours from Covid-19 till 8am Tuesday. The total number of deaths has reached to 28,670 with the latest figure.
The country recorded 8,354 new infections in the meantime taking the total number of people infected to 1,879,255, according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Tuesday.
The current positivity rate stands 20.03 percent and the overall positivity rate stands at 14.67 percent.
In addition, the death rate now stands at 1.53 percent in the country, added the release.
Among the 43 deceased, 26 were males and 17 were females. Of them, 15 were from Dhaka, 13 from Khulna, 11 from Chattogram, two from Rajshahi and one each from Mymensingh and Rangpur division.
A total of 41,698 samples were tested across the country till 8am Tuesday.
Some 10,800 Covid-19 patients have recovered during this period. A total of 1,622,857 people have recovered from the virus so far and the recovery rate stands at 86.36 percent.
As of Tuesday, 5,771,030 people died of Covid-19 across the world and 398,682,567 have been infected so far, according to Worldometer.
