Daily Covid deaths, infections go down

Bangladesh registered 13 more deaths in 24 hours from Covid-19 till 8am Saturday. The total number of deaths has reached to 28,944 with the latest figure.

The country recorded 2,150 new infections in the meantime taking the total number of people infected to 1,931,304, according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Saturday.

The current positivity rate fell to 8.71 percent and the overall positivity rate stands at 14.65 percent.

In addition, the death rate now stands at 1.50 percent in the country, added the release.

Among the deaths, five were reported in Dhaka, four in Chattogram, one each was reported in Rajshahi, Khulna, Barishal and Rangpur divisions.

A total of 24,698 samples were tested across the country till 8am Saturday.

Some 7,478 Covid-19 patients have recovered during this period. A total of 1,745,332 people have recovered from the virus so far and the recovery rate stands at 90.37 percent.

As of Saturday, 5,895,139 people died of Covid-19 across the world and 422,613,970 have been infected so far, according to Worldometer.
