Bangladesh registered nine more deaths in 24 hours from Covid-19 till 8am Monday. The total number of deaths has reached to 28,974 with the latest figure.
The country recorded 1,951 new infections in the meantime taking the total number of people infected to 1,935,242, according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Monday.
The current positivity rate stands 6.94 percent and the overall positivity rate stands at 14.62 percent.
Earlier on Sunday 21 people died from the virus and the positivity rate stood at 7.82 percent. 1,987 people contracted the virus on that day.
In addition, the death rate now stands at 1.50 percent in the country, added the release.
Among the nine deceased, five were males and four were females. Of them, three were from Dhaka and six were from Chattogram division.
A total of 28,097 samples were tested across the country till 8am Monday.
Some 8,674 Covid-19 patients have recovered during this period. A total of 1,763,258 people have recovered from the virus so far and the recovery rate stands at 91.11 percent.
As of Monday, 5,908,685 people died of Covid-19 across the world and 425,465,032 have been infected so far, according to Worldometer.
