Bangladesh registered 70 more deaths from Covid-19 till 8am Friday, taking the total number of deaths to 26,432.
The country recorded 3,167 new infections in the meantime taking the total number of people infected to 1,510,283, according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Friday.
The death rate now stands at 1.75 percent in the country, added the release.
The current positivity rate stands at 10.76 percent and the overall positivity rate stands at 16.74 percent.
Among the 70 deceased, 34 were men, and 36 were women. 24 of the deceased were from Dhaka division, 15 from Chattogram, 12 from Khulna, eight from Sylhet, four each from Rajshahi and Barisal and three were from Mymensingh division.
A total of 29,438 samples were tested across the country till 8am Friday.
During this period 4,697 Covid-19 patients have recovered. Up until now, a total of 1,442,582 people have recovered from the virus and the recovery rate stands at 95.52 percent.
As of Friday, 4,560,213 people died of Covid-19 across the world and 220,120,319 have been infected so far, according to Worldometer.
