Daily Covid deaths drop to 27

Bangladesh registered 27 more deaths in 24 hours from Covid-19 till 8am Friday. The total number of deaths has reached to 28,771 with the latest figure.

The country recorded 5,268 new infections in the meantime taking the total number of people infected to 1,899,803, according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Friday.

The current positivity rate stands 15.46 percent and the overall positivity rate stands at 14.69 percent.

In addition, the death rate now stands at 1.51 percent in the country, added the release.

Among the 27 deceased, 15 were males and 12 were females. Of them, 14 were from Dhaka, five from Chattogram, four from Khulna, two from Sylhet and one each from Rajshahi and Barisal division. 

A total of 34,067 samples were tested across the country till 8am Friday. 

Some 11,353 Covid-19 patients have recovered during this period. A total of 1,655,981 people have recovered from the virus so far and the recovery rate stands at 87.17 percent.

As of Friday, 5,811,044 people died of Covid-19 across the world and 407,086,182 have been infected so far, according to Worldometer.
