Daily Covid deaths drop to 20

Bangladesh registered 20 more deaths in 24 hours from Covid-19 till 8am Saturday. The total number of deaths has reached to 28,791 with the latest figure.

The country recorded 5,023 new infections in the meantime taking the total number of people infected to 1,904,826, according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Saturday.

The current positivity rate stands 16.50 percent and the overall positivity rate stands at 14.69 percent.

In addition, the death rate now stands at 1.51 percent in the country, added the release.

Among the 20 deceased, 12 were males and eight were females. Of them, 13 were from Dhaka, two each from Rajshahi and Khulna and one each from Sylhet, Rangpur and Barisal division. 

A total of 30,448 samples were tested across the country till 8am Saturday. 

Some 8,821 Covid-19 patients have recovered during this period. A total of 1,664,802 people have recovered from the virus so far and the recovery rate stands at 87.40 percent.

As of Saturday, 5,822,607 people died of Covid-19 across the world and 409,352,247 have been infected so far, according to Worldometer.
