Daily Covid deaths, cases drop

Bangladesh registered 15 more deaths in 24 hours from Covid-19 till 8am Wednesday. The total number of deaths has reached to 28,887 with the latest figure.

The country recorded 3,929 new infections in the meantime taking the total number of people infected to 1,923,031, according to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Wednesday.

The daily Covid-19 cases and number of deaths have been decreased. 34 people died of Covid-19 and 4,746 people contracted the virus on Tuesday.

The current positivity rate stands 12.20 percent and the overall positivity rate stands at 14.68 percent.

In addition, the death rate now stands at 1.50 percent in the country, added the release.

Among the 15 deceased, 10 were males and five were females. Of them, five were from Dhaka, four from Chattogram, two from Khulna and one each from Sylhet, Barisal, Rajshahi and Rangpur division. 

A total of 32,207 samples were tested across the country till 8am Wednesday. 

Some 12,757 Covid-19 patients have recovered during this period. A total of 1,716,066 people have recovered from the virus so far and the recovery rate stands at 89.24 percent.

As of Wednesday, 5,859,565 people died of Covid-19 across the world and 416,591,687 have been infected so far, according to Worldometer.
