Cyclone Preparedness Programme gets rescue items

State Minister for Disaster Management and Relief, Dr Md. Enamur Rahman handed over the rescue items to the Cyclone Preparedness Program (CPP) in an event organized at the Department of Disaster Management auditorium in Dhaka today. Cyclone Preparedness Program (CPP) Director (Administration) Md Ahmedul Haque accepted the items on behalf of CPP. Among the commodities were 6400 belts, 6400 raincoats, 6400 hard hats, 6400 pairs of gum boots and 6400 life jackets.

In a speech, the Chief Guest, the State Minister, said necessary equipment, machinery and vehicles had been provided to the Department of Civil Defense and Armed Forces for quick rescue and search operations in earthquakes and other disasters. This includes Aquatic Sea Search Boats, Marine Rescue Boats, Megaphone Siren, and other related instruments. Additionally, collecting more modern machinery and equipment is going on to facilitate this activity, and about 2300 crores of projects have been taken up for this purpose. Besides, 60 multipurpose accessible rescue boats have been provided for 19 flood-affected districts. Moreover, Ministry Secretary Md. Kamrul Hasan and Director General of Disaster Management Department, Md. Atiqul Haque was present during the event.
