The meteorological experts on Friday said that they expect a cyclonic storm to hit the country this month as low pressures in the Bay of Bengal is also expected to develop.
“The current month may experience a cyclonic storm. At least two low pressures are likely to be formed over the Bay of Bengal. Of them, may turn into a cyclonic storm,” an expert of meteorological department said. Earlier, the meteorological department held a regular meeting where the experts discussed the upcoming overall weather. According to the experts, the current month may also experience excessive rain fall than the previous seasons.
The southwestern monsoon wind will disappear from the country in the third week of the current month.
On the other hand, meteorological department on Friday said a low pressure area has formed over Northwest Bay and adjoining west central Bay of Bengal off north Andhra Pradesh and South Odisha Coast.
The axis of monsoon trough runs through Uttar Pradesh, East Madhya Pradesh, centre of the low and onward north-eastwards to Assam across central part of Bangladesh, a met office release said on Friday.
Monsoon is fairly active over Bangladesh and moderate to strong elsewhere over North Bay.
The Met office also predicted light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind across the country in next few days.
Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at many places over Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions and at a few places over Mymensingh, Rangpur and Rajshahi divisions with moderately heavy to heavy falls at isolated places over the country.
