CWASA promises 24-hour water supply

Chittagong WASA Managing Director Engineer AKM Fazlullah has promised to ensure 24-hour water supply in Chittagong metropolitan area.

He made the promise while addressing a special meeting of the National Mourning Day organized by the Chittagong WASA Workers and Employees Union on Monday.

Engineer AKM Fazlullah said that these present demand 36 crore liters of water was being met in the metropolis with the water produced by Chittagong WASA.

With the launch of Sheikh Hasina Water Treatment Plant-2 in Rangunia by next December, water production at Chittagong WASA will increase by another 140 million liters. Then if 50 crore liters of water is supplied daily, the demand for water will be met 100 percent.

In this way pure water can be supplied 24 hours a day. He hopes to be able to ensure this supply before March 17, 2021.

Speaking as the chief guest at the meeting, President of City Awami League Mahtab Uddin Chowdhury said that the defeated force of independence by killing Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Mujib is spread among millions of people in Bengal today. Mujib means struggle, Mujib means the voice of the exploited and oppressed people.

City Awami League General Secretary AJM Nasir Uddin, said Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was imprisoned by Pakistanis for 14 out of 24 years for leading the movement against injustice and irregularities. 

In order to put a smile on the faces of 70 million Bengalis on that day, Bangabandhu had to give up his family, happiness and comfort while giving birth to a new country on the map of the world. Yet he did not back down. 

This great man accepted the injury, exploitation and oppression of Pakistanis as an indomitable encouragement to move forward. Mujib instilled the power of resistance from deprivation. With the heroic Bengali, he has gone ahead to achieve his desired goal.

Central President of Chittagong WASA Employees Union Md. Enayet Ullah presided over the meeting and Joint Secretary Md. Shahjahan conducted the meeting.
