Current Govt different from all past Govt: Planning Minister

“Current Awami League Government is working hard to build a modern Bangladesh and it is different from any Government of the past,” said Planning Minister MA Mannan in Sunamganj on Sunday.  The Minister said this in his speech as the chief guest at the annual sports and cultural competition of Sunamganj Girls High School.

He also said, “The development works of Awami League government is different from any other government in the past. The current government cannot be compared to other governments. Those who disagree with us are the people that does not like us. The current government is different from other governments in the overall development of the country. We brought Bangladesh out of the cave of backwardness and turning it into a 21st century modern country.  We want to clear slavish mindset of the Bengalis. The Awami League government is working in this regard.”

The minister also said, “Bengalis are living in danger in different countries of the world. Their identity is under threat. Only in Bangladesh Bengalis are living safely with self-esteem and dignity. Our dignity will increase in the future. Bangladesh is moving forward in all fields of education and science. 

He said, “At this point there is no shortage of money in Bangladesh. The government has taken special plans for the development of education in Haor region. The standard of education in Haor areas are far more better now compared to the past.  We are making new buildings in schools and colleges to improve the education quality in Haor areas. More will be built in future. 

Regarding the development of Sunamganj, the Minister said, “During the rule of this government, we will build rail line from Chhatak to Sunamganj and build connecting road from Sunamganj to Dhaka via Netrokona. A 9 km long flyover bridge will also be built in Haor region. We will take necessary measures if we find evidence of any unnecessary dams in Haor," he added. Headmaster of the school Nasima Rahman presided over the event while, local MP of Sunamganj-4 constituency Pir Fajlur Rahman Misbah, Zila Parishad Chairman Nurul Huda Mukut, DC of Sunamganj Md. Sariful Islam, Superintendent of Police Mijanur Rahman spoke as special guest among others. 

In his speech as special guest, the local MP Pir Fazlur Rahman demanded a six-storied building for the school. Referring to the demand, the planning minister said, “We are there for the good of the school.”
