Cumilla police plan to reduce traffic congestion on highway

Due to the traffic jam at Chandina Bazar bus stand area on the Dhaka-Chattogram highway N1, pedestrians, school-going children and teenagers are getting into accidents every day. Although an over bridge has been constructed on the highway to make it easier for the people of the four unions of the upazila to travel to Chandina, the people of the upazila are crossing the road without using the bridge. On the other hand, at this bus stand, microbus, Laguna, Cumilla to Dhaka-bound busses are creating traffic congestion and reckless movement. As a result, ordinary people becoming the victims of accidents.

On March 11, a patient named Rafiqul Islam died in a traffic jam at Bazar stand on the way to Dhaka ambulance from Cumilla. Although thousands of vehicles pass through this road every day, the law enforcement agencies have failed to take necessary measures to control the 

vehicles. Khandaker Delwar Hossain, a Comilla correspondent for the Daily Bangladesh Post from Dhaka, informed Chandina Police Station OC Mohammad Arifur Rahman that two policemen would be deployed from the Chandina Bazar Bazar bus stand from March 16. They will have sticks and whistles with them. No vehicles can wait there for long. He further said that he joined Chandina police station on 26/08/2021. Cumilla police have taken some more steps to maintain law and order in the sub-district. In the next few months, the people here will see the benefits.  

Every step is being implemented under the direction of Member of Parliament Dr Pran Gopal Dutt. The law and order situation is under control here as the district police superintendent Farooq Ahmed is supervising official.
