Lal Mai Hill is going to be destroyed. The hill has already turned to be a hillock on the plain land. Even the deep forest is going to lose its existence because of unhindered earth cutting. The land grabbers carry on this destructive activities under cover of darkness.

The land grabbers cut earth of the hill during dry season. They dig different places and make the surface of the soil loose. But during the rainy season, rain water gets into the soil. And the soil becomes soft, and at one stage the soft soil collapses, causing heavy landslide of the hill.

There is a ban against cutting the earth of the hill. But the local syndicates defy the ban, and cut the hill almost every day and sell the soil of the hill. As a result, the history and heritage are going to be lost.

Lalmai  is a historic hill. Many archaeological indications are there. It is the natural resources in the country, and its ownership belongs to the state. But land grabbers are destroying this for their personal benefit.

The land grabbers also have cut all the forest grown and fruit bearing trees from the hill and have thus caused an irreparable loss to the hill and the nation.

According to sources of the local land office, more than 1 thousand acres of land is under the possession of about fifty families nearby the hill.

Every day the hill is being destroyed by the land grabbers.  No authorities come forward to stop it. As a result, the local influential people are being financially benefitted from the land grabbers.
