Shah Alam, an expatriate from Takai village in Cumilla's Brahmanpara, was abducted and kept in custody for four days with death threats. The abductors nabbed Tk 11 lakh from his family through Bkash. The incident took place between August 12 to 16 in Malaysian capital Kuala Lumpur.
According to the family of the abductee, Shah Alam, son of late Mofizul Islam dealer of Takai village in Sahebadabad union of Brahmanpara upazila went to Kuala Lumpur in 2010 to make ends meet. He was working in a store there. On August 12, while he was at home, a group of 5 to 7 abductors entered his room, injected him with anaesthetic and kept him locked in an unknown place.
Nasima Begum, the wife of the abductee, told reporters that on the morning of August 14, her husband Shah Alam told her on mobile phone that he was a abducted. At that time, he expressed his desire to live and said that if she wants to see him alive, she should send money as he says.
She said, she did not inform anyone for the fear of her husband's life. Later, on the night of August 16, the kidnappers left Shah Alam unconscious near his house and fled. When he regained consciousness on the morning of August 16, he told his family members, including his wife, about the details of the captivity on his mobile phone.
His wife Nasima and nephew Mehedi also said that a man named Zahirul Mirza used to confirm the arrival of money to Shahalam's family immediately after sending money through Bkash. Later they would deliver the news of the payment to Malaysia. This Zahirul Mirza is sitting in the capital Dhaka and carrying out criminal activities in Malaysia, they claimed.
