Cumilla City Corporation’s budget of Tk 748 crore for the year 2023-2024 was announced on Wednesday.
Cumilla mayor Arfanul Haque Rifat presented the budget, said a press release.
In the budget, the revenue income has been estimated at Tk 81.42 crore and the development grant income has been estimated at Tk 657 crore. The budget did not increase the holding tax.
The mayor said that to get development allocation, at least 80 per cent of taxes must be collected. So he sought the cooperation of the city dwellers in paying taxes.
The chief executive officer Safiqul Islam, chief engineer Gautam Prasad Chowdhury answered various questions of journalists in the budget session.
Panel mayor 1 Habibur Al-Amin Saadi, panel mayor 2 Md Manzoor Quader Moni, panel mayor 3 Kausara Begum, chief accounts officer Masudur Rahman, executive engineer Abu Sayem Bhuiyan along with journalists and city residents were present.
