Cultural personalities for nurturing rich Bengali culture

Cultural personalities at a discussion have stressed properly nurturing and preserving rich Bengali culture to present the true national history before the next generations.

They made the observation at the discussion arranged by District Shilpakala Academy at its auditorium on Saturday evening in observance of the 48th founding anniversary of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA).

District Shilpakala Academy chalked out programmes including colorful decoration and illumination of its building, cake cutting, dance, rendering songs, recitation of poems, discussion and cultural function.

Sociocultural activists, literary personalities, artists of the Shilpakala Academy and other cultural organisations, youths, students, teachers, professionals, civil society members and elite of the city were present.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (Education and ICT) AWM Raihan Shah attended the discussion as the chief guest.

With District Cultural Affairs Officer Nujhat Tabassum Rimu in the chair, noted cultural personality Rezina Safrin moderated the whole function.

Former Head of the Department of Bengali of Government Begum Rokeya College, Rangpur Professor Mohammad Shah Alam, former Vice-president of District Shilpakala Academy Abdul Mazid Hiru, cultural personalities Maksudar Rahman Mukul, Mizanur Rahman Kahn, among others, spoke.

Addressing the occasion, speakers put importance on nurturing of the healthy Bengali cultural activities for building a peaceful, non-communal and prosperous ‘Sonar Bangla’ as dreamt by Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

The chief guest called upon all concerned for smooth nurturing of rich Bengali culture, tradition to further enrich own civilised status in the independent Bangladesh for building a peaceful society in the country.

Later, artists of the District Shilpakala Academy rendered colourful cultural programmes including dance, songs and poem recitation in the cultural evening entertaining hundreds of people of all ages.
