A discussion meeting and rally was held on the occasion of May Day on the initiative of Chattogram Union of Journalists (CUJ).
On Monday morning, the rally started in front of the Chattogram Press Club and went around the various roads of Jamalkhan and ended in front of the Press Club. Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) Mayor Md. Rezaul Karim Chowdhury was the chief guest in the discussion meeting organized at Engineer Abdul Khalek Auditorium of Chattogram Press Club at noon. Senior Vice-President Mohammad Rubel Khan delivered the welcome speech in the discussion meeting held under the chairmanship of CUJ President Tapan Chakraborty.
Chattogram Press Club president Salahuddin Md. Reza, former president Alhaj Ali Abbas, former president of CUJ Muhammad Ali, CUJ general secretary Shamsul Islam, senior vice president of Chattogram Press Club Chowdhury Farid and General Secretary Debdulal Bhowmik, CUJ Finance Secretary Md Mujahidul Islam, Organizing Secretary Md Maharam Hossain, TV Camera Journalists Association President Shafiq Ahmed Sajib. CUJ Publicity and Publication Secretary Sarwar Kamal, Executive Member Alauddin Hossain Dulal, Dainik Purbodesh Unit Chief Jivak Barua, Dainik Suprabhat Bangladesh Unit Chief Ibrahim and Representative Unit Acting Chief Sohel Sarwar, TV Unit Deputy Chief Touhidul Alam were present in the event.
Chief guest CCC Mayor Md Rezaul Karim Chowdhury said that the struggle of the working class has been going on for a long time. This struggle of the working class will continue. The owner is successful only if he can divide the workers. If the working class is united, the owners cannot create division.
Journalists have been struggling for their rights in life. There is a different power in unity. Unity, solidarity is the greatest tool for the realization of rights.
