The Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CUET) and the Chittagong Development Authority (CDA) have formally signed an agreement, appointing CUET’s Department of Urban and Regional Planning as the middle vetting consultants for the Chittagong Metropolitan Masterplan project.
The agreement signing and discussion meeting took place on Thursday afternoon at the CDA conference room, focusing on the vetting process of the city’s long-term development masterplan.
The agreement was signed by Dr Fouzia Gulshana Rashid Lopa, Head of the Urban and Regional Planning Department at CUET, and Planner Md Abu Isa Ansari, CDA’s Deputy Chief Urban Planner and Project Director of the Masterplan. The meeting was chaired by CDA Chairman Engineer Md Nurul Karim.
Present at the event were CUET’s Acting Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Kazi Afzalur Rahman, Dean of the Faculty of Architecture and Planning Professor Dr Muhammad Rashidul Hasan, CUET Registrar Professor Dr Sheikh Mohammad Humayun Kabir, Professor Dr Badius Salam, Professor Dr Maruful Hasan Majumder, Deputy Team Leader Debashish Roy Raja, and others from CUET.
CDA officials including Secretary Rabindra Chakma, Special Magistrate Mohammad Nazrul Islam, and Chief Engineer Kazi Hasan Bin Shams also attended.
Both institutions expressed optimism that this collaboration would contribute significantly to a sustainable and well-structured future for Chattogram Metropolitan City.
