Chittagong University (CU) authorities are taking initiative to build a field hospital in Hathazari for the treatment of teachers, students, officers and employees of CU who are affected by corona virus. CU Proctor Professor SM Monirul Hasan confirmed the news on Saturday afternoon.
He said discussions were underway to build a field hospital in Hathazari with a view to protect the health of university family members during the Corona period. The Vice-Chancellor has spoken to the Alumni Association of the University and to some other personal acquaintance.
He added that the University authorities have discussed the matter with the UNO of Hathazari. It was initially decided to build this field hospital in an open space in Hathazari.
According to university sources, apart from the initiative to build a field hospital & the university authorities have taken several steps to deal with Corona crisis.
An ambulance will provide round-the-clock service if anyone in the university family is infected with corona virus. CU Medical Center has been urged to raise awareness among physicians, health workers & increasing the use of oxygen and other safety equipment for Covid-19 sufferers.
Initiatives have been taken to increase the facilities at CU Medical Center. Consideration is being given to setting up a booth in Chittagong city to collect samples of corona samples of university family members.
Necessary arrangements have been made regarding providing medical service, with Medical College, Mother and Child Hospital and Chandgaon International Medical College for quick treatment of CU family members.
CU Vice-Chancellor also held discussions with the Principal of Chittagong Medical College Hospital to provide medical services to CU family members affected by Corona. The principal has assured to provide maximum service in this regard. Meanwhile, the discussions are underway on whether an isolation center can be set up at Chittagong University.
