Safiul Alam Tarafdar, a professor of mathematics at Chattogram University (CU), died of Covid-19. He was 54.
He breathed his last at Park View Hospital in Chattogram at about 9.45pm on Thursday.
Registrar of the university Prof SM Monirul Hasan confirmed the matter. He said that Prof Safiul Alam Tarafdar had been undergoing treatment at the hospital for Coronavirus for a month.
A few days ago, the amount of oxygen in his body reduced. He had been receiving treatment at the Intensive Care Unit of the hospital.
CU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Shirin Akhtar expressed deep shop at the death of Prof Safiul Alam Tarafdar. She prayed for salvation of departed soul of the professor. She conveyed deep sympathy to the deceased family members.
