Chattogram  University (CU) observed July Women’s Day for the first time to remember the brave women of the July Uprising on campus.

The event began with a rally from the university's Zero Point at 9 AM on Monday. Then, the university students observed one minute of silence in memory of the martyrs of the July Movement. After, an open discussion meeting was held.

Department of Banking and Insurance (2024–25 session), student Sara Sumaiya Hani said that, “It wasn’t easy to join the protests as a female student. But we didn’t back down, even after attacks by the Chhatra League. When police were detaining male students and putting them in vans, the girls stood in front of the vehicles. Women's power is the courage of the future.”

Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration) Prof. Dr. Md Kamal Uddin said that, “The July Uprising was the first major democratic movement after the Liberation War. Women played an undeniable role in it. We must ensure that women are never deprived of their rights. Their strong presence in every democratic movement in Bangladesh is a testament to their strength. I pray for the souls of all the martyrs, including the women who gave their lives during the uprising.”

CU Pro-Vice Chancellor (Education) Prof. Dr. Mohammad Shamim Uddin Khan said that, “Women have never lagged behind in any movement in Bangladesh. Similarly, female students at CU also played a vital role in the protests. Together, men and women will build the future of this country.”

CU Pro-Vice Chancellor (Education) Prof. Dr. Mohammad Shamim Uddin Khan, Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration) Prof. Dr. Md. Kamal Uddin, Acting Registrar Prof. Dr. Muhammad Saiful Islam, faculty members, administrative officials, teachers, and students were present on the occasion.
