Chittagong University (CU) has approved a budget of Tk 351.85 crore for the fiscal year 2020-21 and a revised budget of Tk 341.15 crore for the fiscal year 2019-20.
The 56th joint meeting of the Chittagong University Finance Committee (FC) and the syndicate gave the approval, while maintaining physical distance in the conference room of the CU Fine Arts Institute on Badsha Mia Road in the port city on Saturday morning.
CU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Shirin Akhtar said that the highest priority has been given to the academic activities of the university in this year's budget.
The CU administration has taken effective initiatives to further enhance the quality of education and research in line with the initiatives taken by the government.
To compensate for the loss of education and research in the Corona virus epidemic, the CU administration has already been able to reach an acceptable position through discussions with the relevant boards about taking online classes, which will be visible soon.
She further said that he will continue her efforts for the overall development of the university including running the university in a fair and peaceful environment with all the family members,
enhancing the quality of education and research, infrastructural development, resource protection and its proper use and upholding the existing environment of higher education and research.
Syndicate and FC joint meeting was attended by Syndicate members SM Fazlul Haque, Prof. Dr. Kazi SM Khasrul Alam Quddasi, Prof. Dr. AKM Mainul Haque Meaze, Prof. Dr. Mohammad Nasim Hasan and Prof. Dr. Mohammad Mahibul Aziz, Secretary to the President's Office and CU Syndicate Member Sampad Barua and Syndicate Secretary CU Registrar (Acting) KM Nur Ahmed and FC Member Prof. Dr. Imran Hossain, Prof. Dr. Sultan Ahmed, Online participants FC members Prof. Abu Muhammad Atiqur Rahman and Siddiqur Rahman Bhuiyan.
CU Accounts Controller (Acting) FC Secretary Md. Faridul Alam Chowdhury presented the budget at this meeting.
