Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit of Dhaka Metropolitan Police on Tuesday arrested five suspected members of the banned terrorist outfit Neo JMB from Sylhet in connection with a bomb blast in the capital’s Paltan area.
Earlier on July 26, a crude bomb and explosive cocktails were recovered from a bag hanging on the motorcycle of a policeman in the Paltan area of the city.
Saiful Islam, deputy commissioner of the CCTC unit, confirmed the matter adding that the suspects were being brought to the capital.
He, however, said the identities of the suspects are yet to be confirmed.
The group led by Naimuzzaman, the head of Neo JMB's Sylhet region, had allegedly planned to launch an attack on the shrine of Hazrat Shahjalal (RA).
