CTTC arrests 3 Ansar al Islam militants

Counter-Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested three members of the banned Islamist terrorist outfit Ansar al Islam from Rampura area in the capital on Saturday. 

CTTC chief Md Asaduzzaman disclosed it at a press briefing at the DMP Media Centre on Sunday. 

The arrestees were identified as Md Foyzul Morsalin, Syed Taimia Ibrahim alias Anwar and Maruf Chowdhury Mishu alias Farhan.

The arrested militants were recruiting new member and collecting fund through online and offline in the name of charity and welfare projects.

The arrested militants use encrypted apps as a means of communication.     

After completing education from a private university on Computer Engineering, Md Foyzul Morsalin joined the group in 2016.

Syed Taimia Ibrahim joined the group in 2015 after completing his education from North South University and was made responsible for one of the modules of the organisation.

Maruf Chowdhury Mishu, after graduating from American International University, entered the group in 2015. He, reportedly, went to the Bangladesh-Myanmar border in 2017 and stayed there for one month to spread extremist propaganda.

A case was filed with Rampura Police Station in this connection.
