Mayor of Chattagram City Corporation (CCC) AJM Nasir Uddin inaugurated the biggest human waste treatment plant at Arefin Nagar of Jalalabad in the port city on Sunday.
The CCC mayor observed the refinery project that will be built on 20 kathas of land. This is the biggest human waste treatment plant in the city containing 70 million of people.
To make this refinery Water and Sanitation for the Urban Poor (WSUP) spends Tk 1 crore 20 lakh. At the inauguration ceremony, the Mayor said, 20 thousand liters of waste will be cleared here per day.
As a result, about 60 lakh liters of waste per year will be turned into fertilizer. This project is one of the achievements to make the city environment- friendly.
He also said that 4 vacuum tankers (cars) of Sweep Services are being used in the management of human wastes with the help of CCC.
He thanked (WSUP) for joining the project. Councilors Mohammad Shahed Iqbal Babu, CCC Chief Clean Officer Shafiqul Mannan Siddiqui, Cleaner Officer Morshedul Alam Chowdhury, WSUP Country Program Manager Abdus Shahin, Sanitation Leader Habibur Rahman, Business Development Officer Manzur Morshed were present in the meeting.
