As part of the government’s election pledge to plant 2.5 billion trees in five years, the Chattogram South Road Division has officially inaugurated its tree plantation program.
The tree plantation program was inaugurated at 11 am on Wednesday at Chaturi Bazar, the roundabout at the mouth of the tunnel road and the road median section of the Karnaphuli Tunnel Connection Road (N-115). Roads and Highways Department in Chattogram Zone, Additional Chief Engineer Mohammad Abdul Halim was present as the chief guest at the program.
Also present at the event were Mohammad Zahed Hossain, Superintendent Engineer of the Roads and Highways Department Chattogram Road Circle; Pintu Chakma, Executive Engineer of the Chattogram South Road Division; Mohammad Moslehuddin Chowdhury, Executive Engineer of the Chattogram Road Division; Mohammad Abdullah Al Noman Parvez, Sub-Divisional Engineer of the Patiya Road Sub-Division; Assistant Engineer Faruk Abdullah, Assistant Engineer of the Chattogram Road Zone, Mofizul Islam, Deputy Assistant Engineers Abu Ahsan Muhammad Azizul Mostafa, Mohammad Shahidul Alam, Abu Hanif, and others.
Additional Chief Engineer Mohammad Abdul Halim said, "This tree planting program will enhance the beauty of the road many times over, in addition to preserving the balance of the environment. Besides, there is no alternative to tree planting to combat the risks of climate change."
