Chattogram City Corporation Mayor Rezaul Karim said Chattogram is one of the major natural seaports in the world and this port city is the economic heart of the state.  With the expansion of Chittagong port, construction of Bay Terminal, construction of deep sea port, construction of tunnel through Karnafhuli bottom Chattogram is hailed as a fertile economic power with immense potential in all parts of the world.  The importance of Chittagong in the development of the country is multidimensional.

The mayor said this in a courtesy call at the mayor's office at Chittagong City Corporation Bhaban on Thursday.  Bangabandhu's daughter expressed her conviction that it would be transformed into a developed country in 2041 under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Kosovar ambassador said, I am very happy to be here.  So my life has increased towards Chittagong.  Bangladesh recognized the Republic of Kosovo as an independent state on February 2017.  That is why we are grateful to the people of this country.  Our country has the opportunity to express our views freely.  Like the city of Chittagong, we also have many places of Islamic heritage that attract tourists.  Despite being a Muslim majority country, people of different communities and ethnic groups are living in a friendly environment in our country, maintaining secularism in the country and moving the country forward on the path of development and progress.  He opined that the proper use of the economic importance of Chittagong is meaningful not only for Bangladesh but for the whole world.

He said that although Kosovo is a small Muslim country in Europe, the society of our country like Bangladesh is very secular.  On the other hand, the country got independence in 2008 by waging liberation war like us.

He informed the guest that Chittagong is one of the 12 city corporations of the country and is making exceptional contribution in the field of education and medicine.  There are more than 60 educational institutions and more than 50 healthcare centers run by CCC.  It also makes sense to provide civic services

Multiple projects have been implemented, which has had a significant impact on the national economy.  Kosovo, as an independent country, has already established diplomatic relations with us.

He hoped that the excellent bilateral relations between the two countries would be more fruitful.

CCC Chief Executive Officer Mohammad Shahidul Alam, Panel Mayor Md. Gias Uddin, Councilor Abdus Salam Masum, Chief Revenue Officer Md. Nazrul Islam, Mayor's Private Secretary Muhammad Abul Hashem, Chief Health Officer Dr. Selim Akhter Chowdhury were present on the occasion.
