Ctg railway police nab 13 for travelling on roof

Campaigns have been launched to curb illegal travel and hawkers on the roofs and engines of trains.  Chattogram Railway Police has arrested 13 people.

 The day-long operation was conducted at Feni and Cumilla railway stations on Friday under the direction of Chattogram District Railway Police Superintendent Hasan Chowdhury.

 The hawkers were arrested for making risky journeys on the roof of the Chattala Express train from Chattogram to Dhaka while crossing the Feni railway station and selling goods illegally.

The arrested are- Shahjalal (18), Shamim Mia (25), Bablu Mia (19), Jisan (18), Rabbi (21), Rabiul Haque (19), Farhad (18), Mominul (18), Islam (25),  Khokon Mia (50), Md. Sujan (18) were arrested under Section 113/118 of the Railway Act and handed over to the court.

 It is learned that the railway police conducted operations to prevent illegal travel and hawkers on the roof and locomotives.

 Cumilla Railway Police Outpost conducts various operations at Cumilla Railway Station to prevent illegal travel and hawkers on the roofs and engines of trains.

 Chattogram Railway Superintendent of Police Hasan Chowdhury said the operation was carried out to prevent illegal travel and hawkers on the roof and engine of the train. At that time 13 people were arrested from Feni and Cumilla.  They were later handed over to the court.

 Md. Amir Hossain (55), Khorshed Alam (24) were arrested under Section 120 (KA) of the Railway Act and handed over to the court for illegally selling goods on the train while the Dhaka-Chattogram bound Mahanagar Prabhati Express train was passing at Cumilla Railway Station.
