State Minister for Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury has commented that Chattogram port will become a regional life line in the future.
He said this while addressing the chief guest at the cake cutting and reception ceremony organized on the occasion of the 137th founding anniversary of Chattogram port on Sunday.
At the beginning of the ceremony, State Minister for Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury, Chattogram City Corporation Mayor Rezaul Karim Chowdhury, Mahfuzur Rahman Mita MP, MA Latif MP, SM Al Mamun MP, Chattogram Indian Assistant High Commissioner Dr. Rajiv Ranjan, Payra Port Authority Chairman Real Admiral Abdullah Al Mamun Chowdhury, Chattogram Naval Region Area Commander Real Admiral Khandkar Mizbah ul Azim, Bangladesh Daily Editor Naeem Nizam, Bhorer Kagoj Editor Shyamal Dutta, Global TV Head of News Ishtiaq Reza, Munni Saha of Ek Takkar Khabar, Naeemul Islam Khan Publisher of Amader Orthonithi, ATN News Head Prabas Amin, News24 Executive Editor Rahul Raha, Ekattor TV Chief Editor Mozammel Haque, RTV CEO Syed Ashiq Rahman cut the cake on the occasion of Chattogram Port's founding anniversary. Shipping Minister said that Chattogram Port has achieved incredible success in the last 15 years. Due to which different countries and investors of the world have become interested in investing in Chittagong port and invested a lot. In the meantime, foreign operators have also been appointed. Future Chattogram port will become a regional life line.
He said that operations of other ports around the world including Corona were suspended, there the picture of Chattogram port is different. The operations of Chattogram Port were closed even for a day during the global disaster like Corona epidemic. Due to which our port has become the center of interest of foreign investors.
He also said that due to the unfavourable global environment, although the goal of completing the work of the Bay-terminal by 2024 was not possible, it was not possible. But we will start work on bay-terminal soon and try to finish it soon. Several countries have expressed interest in investing in bay terminals.
Chattogram Port Authority (CPA) Chaitman Rear Admiral Mohammad Sohail said that everyone is working tirelessly to keep Chattogram Port operational for 24 hours. Due to which there is no container jam at the port as before. It is the result of everyone's hard work and effort.
