Ctg Port Customs to auction goods of 361 containers

Customs House authorities at Chattogram port usually auction imported goods at the port yard once a month. Due to Coronavirus menace, such auction cannot be held in due time. Now, the Customs authority is going to auction 361 containers of various goods including cars, garments accessories, frozen food, fruits and fish.

The day-long auction will be held on June 30 at Chittagong Port Yard. Auction of these 361 containers of goods is the largest auction so far, a source of Customs informed.

The goods and vehicles to be auctioned include luxury cars, apples, frozen meat, garments accessories, various types of fabrics, chemicals, electronics products, paper and paper products, hardware, textile machineries, ceramic items, etc.

The good to be auctioned were not unloaded by importers in due time and the goods seized on the charge of attempting to evade customs’ duty on false declarations. Interested individuals and organisations can collect the application form and submit it to the concerned authorities to participate into the auction till June 29.

Meanwhile, auction products are set for open exhibition for any interested buyer to purchase those products at the auction. The exhibition will start on Wednesday and will continue till Friday evening, informed Farid Al Mamun, Deputy Commissioner of Chatogram Customs Auction Branch.

He said 361 container laden goods are stuck in the port for various reasons and those will go on sale on June 30. A total of 174 lots of products will be auctioned. 

These include four luxury cars, 150 tons of onions, 174 tons of buffalo meat, 24 containers of apples, 729 tons of various types of animal feed, 40 containers of garments products and nine tons of fish. In addition, there are eight containers of art paper and 28 containers of machinery products.
