Two high capacity 5000 bhp /70 ton bollard tugboats are being procured to assist in safe berthing, and shifting of foreign vessels engaged in import-export work due to increasing ship and cargo handling at Chittagong port at a cost of Tk 145.22 crore. These 2 tugboats will be added to the port's naval fleet next June.

According to the source, the main objective of the project is to increase the capacity of Chittagong port to increase the capacity of comparatively large ships.
The project will provide safe berthing assistance to large merchant ships, support the operational work of the newly implemented Bay Terminal and Matarbari Terminal in Maheshkhali / Kutubdia area, increase safety assistance to ships arriving at Chittagong port It will be possible to achieve the targets of providing firefighting assistance to ships, assisting in conducting anti-river and environmental pollution activities, providing assistance to commercial vessels in adverse weather conditions, providing assistance in naval conservation of Karnafhuli Channel.
The capacity of Chittagong port will be enhanced if the latest technology is added to the CPA naval fleet keeping pace with the times. Which will play a significant role in meeting the future needs and will make a huge contribution to the revenue collection.
